Writing

I’ve always liked writing – my first job was as a copywriter and editor. As well as sometimes dabbling in creative writing, especially poetry, I also enjoy the process of integrating lots of information, techniques and theory from wide-ranging sources, and then simplifying this into concise, straightforward and accessible material.

The ABC Guide to Mindfulness

This book is the result of my love of writing combined with my mindfulness journey. I’ve studied and practised mindfulness since 2007 – through mindfulness courses, workshops and retreats, and reading. Together, these have helped me to transform my experience of myself and the world around me. So much so that I wanted to pass on to others what I’d found so invaluable myself – hence training to become a mindfulness teacher. Since then I’ve taught hundreds of people the key things I’ve learned along the way.

'The ABC guide to mindfulness' is a teach-yourself course on getting more from life through kindly awareness. It can also be used as the framework for one-to-one mindfulness coaching and training with me to explore issues that you'd like to make some changes around - in your work or personal life.

The book is a very practical guide, taking you through an experiential learning process over at least six weeks. It’s structured around a simple ABC model:

Awareness: of what is happening in your present-moment experience.

Being with your experience: cultivating an attitude of kindly acceptance to yourself – your thoughts and emotions – and the world around you.

Choosing wise responses to your experience, by responding wisely instead of reacting automatically.

WHAT READERS SAY

"After being so inspired following a course with Tim, the books expands on the practices of awareness to help live life more fully. If I'd found this many years ago I may have had a very different happier life. Not at all new agey, just practical help to think more clearly and being aware." Jen

“I did Tim’s course at the start of the year and was compelled to buy his book and I was not disappointed. Tim was a calm thoughtful teacher and he has an obvious passion for mindfulness which is transmitted through his teaching. Tim teaches how to move from reacting to responding to difficulty. His ABC way of working simplifies the mindfulness process and makes it accessible. This adds to your toolbox for resilience and creates greater self-awareness.” Imtaz
